Addressing the social impacts of lack of access to transport in rural communities

FAS is currently undertaking research for the New Zealand Transport Agency on the social impacts of poor access to transport in rural New Zealand. The work involves a literature review, analysis of census and other official time series data, two community case studies, and consultations on planning responses. Boffa Miskel Ltd are assisting in the project by looking at possible planning responses to the issues.

Valuing the recreational use of forests

We have been working with SCION /Forest Research in Rotorua to design and implement a survey of recreational users of the Whaka forest. The aim of the project is to put a value on recreational use of the forest, and recreational users' preferences for different forest management regimes.
